in the summer of 2022 my best friends and I travelled around Italy, staying in hostels in hopes of meeting other like minded travelers to spend our days and late nights with. before going out in the evenings we would gather in the hostel lobby with playing cards to lure in potential friends. it didn't take long to have a table full of strangers from all over the world playing a game with us. what I found most interesting is that even when we didn't speak our new friends language, many of us knew how to play the same games. upon returning home I started illustrating this deck, each card is from ace to king unique. each face card plays with a dynamic and exaggerated perspective while each ace is a home to remind us that cards are for uncomfortable and comfortable times.
